Description
Hexham Orpheus Choir was formed in 1955 and currently has around 60 members. We operate a no audition policy, providing a platform for people from various musical backgrounds to come together and perform a wide variety of music from Renaissance to contemporary. We have a very active social calendar and new members are always made very welcome. (Recent works have included Handel's Messiah, Orff's Carmina Burana and Rossini's Petite Messe Solonnelle.)

Rehearsal information
Rehearsals take place on a Wednesday evening during school terms from 7.30 - 9.30pm at the West End Methodist Church, Shaftoe Leazes, Hexham.
Usual rehearsal days: Wednesdays with one Friday evening and one Saturday afternoon rehearsal before each concert.
Performance venues
Concert venues include Hexham Abbey, Queen Elizabeth High School, The Queen's Hall, Hexham and various local churches.
Usual concert days
Saturdays plus an occasional concert on a Friday.
Usual number of concerts per year
We perform three major concerts with smaller groups performing at other events throughout the year, particularly at Christmas.
Joining information
Membership is £60 per year, which can be paid in two instalments. Payments to the Treasurer are normally made at the first rehearsal of the new season in September and at the first rehearsal in January, for those paying in instalments.
