The Northumbrian Recorder and Viol School, founded in 1971 by Layton and Christine Ring, is a summer school in the College of St Hild and St Bede, Durham, under the direction of Ralph Woodward. It covers a wide range of early music, including technique and ensemble classes and culminating in a choral and orchestral concert. The tutors are among Europe's leading early musicians.
